August's Book!

It is finally August...which means a new book! So sorry for the delay in letting everyone know, I have been on vacation and had limited access to everything! So without further adieu...the official book for August is The Royal We!

Here is the overview for the book, I so look forward to discussing this book with y'all!

American Rebecca Porter was never one for fairy tales. Her twin sister, Lacey, has always been the romantic who fantasized about glamour and royalty, fame and fortune. Yet it's Bex who seeks adventure at Oxford and finds herself living down the hall from Prince Nicholas, Great Britain's future king. And when Bex can't resist falling for Nick, the person behind the prince, it propels her into a world she did not expect to inhabit, under a spotlight she is not prepared to face.
Dating Nick immerses Bex in ritzy society, dazzling ski trips, and dinners at Kensington Palace with him and his charming, troublesome brother, Freddie. But the relationship also comes with unimaginable baggage: hysterical tabloids, Nick's sparkling and far more suitable ex-girlfriends, and a royal family whose private life is much thornier and more tragic than anyone on the outside knows. The pressures are almost too much to bear, as Bex struggles to reconcile the man she loves with the monarch he's fated to become.
Which is how she gets into trouble.
Now, on the eve of the wedding of the century, Bex is faced with whether everything she's sacrificed for love-her career, her home, her family, maybe even herself-will have been for nothing.

Happy Reading friends!!

Ready, Set….Discuss!

I can hardly believe it is the last few days of July! Since we are nearing the end of the month, that means it is time to discuss the book we all read this month! Here is how the discussion will go, I will post questions that talk about the book and then a wrap-up of what I thought about the book. Feel free to discuss away in the comments section and answer all the questions you have a thought on. If you just want to write a brief summary of why you liked or didn't like the book, go ahead! If you have pages of thoughts, share! Everyone is welcome to be involved in this book club! Now like I said before, this will only work if we all participate in a form or fashion. So with that…let's begin the discussion!

1. Do you see any similarities between Violet and Vivian? What about differences and how their circumstances changed the path of their stories?

2. Why was Vivian so invested in Violet's story? Why didn't she disown her great aunt all together like the rest of the Schuyler family?

3. What was Doctor Paul's main part in the story? Did you enjoy his character and how was he beneficial/detrimental to kickstarting the uncovering of Violet's story?

4. Discuss the men of the book. Were they traditional to their time periods or were some modern?

5. There were so many different women characters who made appearances through out the novel. Who was the most impactful to Vivian and why?

6. If the Schuyler family was different, do you think Vivian's story would have ended up the way it did?

7. Pepper makes a bold statement "I think the secret to marriage is old-fashion tolerance". Do you think Vivian agrees? What about Violet? What about yourself?

8. Would you say obedience is a major theme through out the novel? If so, why?

9. Who was your favorite character and what drew you to them?

10. Would you read any other novels by Beatriz Williams?

Alright everyone, here are my thoughts on the book. I absolutely loved it! I have read Beatriz Williams' book A Hundred Summers before this one, so I expected great things. I loved the little appearance of some characters from that book in this one. I was entranced from the first couple chapters and I really enjoyed Vivian. I would like to think, if I was in her situation I would act similar. I love how outspoken and individual she is. She never compromised her true self for the benefit of her dull family. I would most certainly read this book again and even recommend it to anyone else!

Start thinking about August's book! We will draw it out of a hat and announce the book on August 1!

Happy Discussing my friends!
